August 28 Worship Service
The Rev. Sue Koenig serves as the Director of Racial Justice and Healing for the Moravian Church Northern Province (“MCNP”) and as a member of the MCNP Racial Justice Team. She has served Moravian congregations in OH and MD, and currently is pastor of First Moravian Church of Easton in PA. She is member of the Board of World Mission, the Board of Directors of Moravian Open Door in NY, and the representative to Churches for Middle East Peace for the Moravian Church in America.
Since January 2021, Rev. Koenig has been part of the Racial Justice Team at Central Moravian Church through her work as Director of Racial Justice and Healing. She will preach at Central on Sunday, August 28, the 59th anniversary of The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream” speech. Her sermon will reflect on Jesus’ Banquet Parable in Luke 14:7-14, through the lens of racial justice and include a brief presentation of the current work of the Racial Justice Team – a pilgrimage to Montgomery, AL for Moravian clergy in September – and possible next steps in the work of racial justice and healing for congregations and the Northern Province.
