Lunch & Learn about Jamaican Trip: In February the History Committee sponsored a trip to Jamaica for the purpose of learning about the involvement of the Moravian Church with the enslaved peoples on the Island. Despite the unspeakable tragedy we all experienced upon the death of Pastor Hopeton, going ahead with the trip was seen as a tribute to his memory. Twenty-three travelers from different Moravian congregations, as well as friends of the church, participated. The experience was amazing and humbling. We would like to share our memories with you.
On Sunday, May 19th there will be a forum to report on the trip and share what we learned, particularly examining the response of the church to slavery and to the education of enslaved people. The program will be held in Nitschmann Hall following the 11 a.m. service. There will be a narrative accompanied by many photos. The History Committee will provide lunch for those in attendance.
