Traveler’s Together
Advent Racial Justice Series
During Advent we light candles on our Advent wreaths at home and church, we light luminaria candles around the church, and we light candles at our Christmas Eve services. These candles remind us that Christ brings the light of justice and the warmth of love into our world.
Invite the light of Christ more fully into your life this Advent season and beyond by taking part in the Racial Justice Advent series offered by the Northern Province Racial Justice Team. This series, which offers a helpful continuation of the Racial Justice conversations Travelers Together sponsored last January, will be the primary offering for Travelers Together this program year. A follow-up conversation for members at Central and those who join us from the Lehigh Valley will take place on Sunday, January 16, 2022.
The Moravian Church Northern Province Racial Justice Team presents an Advent Zoom Series toward Racial Justice and Healing December 1, 8, 15, and 22 at 7 p.m. and can be accessed by visiting moravian.org. The format for all one-hour sessions will include a brief devotion and presentation, followed by extended time in small group discussion.
Dec. 1: “Speaking Words of Grace and Conviction – Developing Race Awareness Responses”. Presentation: Ways to respond to racist comments
Dec. 8: “Speaking Healing Words”. Presentation: Microaggressions & How to Apologize
Dec. 15: “Speaking One-on-One” Presentation: “One-on-Ones – What they are, why they are important to the work of racial justice, and how do you begin?”
Dec. 22: “Listening and Speaking Together – Next Steps in Congregations”. Presentation: A panel discussion from the Western District Justice Team on next steps for congregations.
