Great Sabbath Lovefeast

Decorating God’s Acre

God’s Acre is the first Moravian cemetery in Bethlehem and is located north of the Christian Education Building and parking lot and south of Market Street. In preparation for the Bethlehem Area Moravian Easter Sunrise service, which concludes in God’s Acre, Central’s Youth Group and friends gather on the Saturday morning before Easter at 9 a.m. to put potted hyacinths on the gravestones in the cemetery.

Great Sabbath Lovefeast

Remembering that Jesus’ body lay in the tomb and that his friends and followers rested on the Sabbath, we take the Saturday between the sadness of Good Friday and the joy of Easter Sunday to rest together. Our worship at 2:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary continues with readings from the Holy Week manual and inspiring music. Featuring warm fellowship and a spiritually enriching musical respite from the more solemn experience of the rest of Holy Week.
